Archmarathon Selection Award - MADE expo 2019

The 4 days of the event saw the participation of 28 international studios divided into 14 categories which each presented their projects to a large audience and the prestigious jury of Luca Molinari, Matteo Fantoni and Marzia Faranda.


On Saturday 16th March following the keynote speeches by the architects Fantoni, Faranda and Molinari, the award ceremony for the 14 winning projects took place.

The studios that will automatically have access to the world edition of ARCHMARATHON which will take place in Milan in 2020, are:

Motivation: the pavillion shows a strong capacity of being nomadic, handcrafted designed and pop, defining a contemporary and alive way to communicate culture.

Motivation: the project shows a strong sensitivity regarding the child’s point of view and the capability of designing a space of freedom and open creativity.

John Antony – Linehouse

 

Motivation: when East meet West its always a great challenge. In this very sophisticated restaurant the design of the living space, the inner sections of the dining rooms and the decorations generate a unique and exciting environment able to enrich all the senses.

Motivation: the design of the public space and its ability to mediate between two different part of the city, along a very difficult section, is solved with a simple and sensitive urban choice.

Motivation: the addiction of this private house shows a clear vision of the domestic space and the capacity to manage the functional program through simple signs and a clever ecological strategy.

Motivation: this space for coworking has been managed to create a cozy and domestic work environment keeping the quality of the existant space throuhg a clever strategy of recycling and regeneration.

Motivation: the project shows a sensitive attitude, mixing carefully the existing space and, at the same time, a pop and visionary approach to contemporary life.

Motivation: the ski complex represents the necessity of thinking to overall strategy mixing contemporary landscape, social awareness and design sensitivity to produce new spaces for changing mix of the mountain community.

Motivation: the complex functional program in this case has been cleverly managed through a clear design process, which generated a new fragment of contemporay landscape, able to dialogue with the existing surroundings.

Motivation: Drivelines Studios shows clearly the power of contemporary design in offering to an urban community an impressive landmark and at the same time a warm space to be lived the daily life.

Motivation: the redefinition of the industrial heritage is one of the most difficult problem to be faced in our contemporary landscapes and this project shows a clear sensitivity in generating a good example in what should be done in such delicate areas.

Outdoor Care Retreat – Snohetta

 

Motivation: this contemporary “tree house” is the result of a process which want to bring humanity and a warm diffused quality in a space dedicated to the care of the patients. A good example of what every hospital should consider to have in its outdoor environment.

The Jury Members

We are pleased to introduce the members of the Jury of ARCHMARATHON Selections@MADE Expo. March 13th\16th the Jury will listen to 28 international projects and select the 14 winners who will directly be admitted at ARCHMARATHON 2019 finals.
The Jury will be composed of Luca Molinari, Matteo Fantoni and Benedetta Tagliabue.

Luca Molinari

The jury President of Archmarathon

 

Architect, critic and associate professor of Contemporary History and Theory of Architecture at SUN (Seconda Università degli Studi, Naples) and at Cornell University College of Architecture, Art, and Planning in Rome. Between 2005 and 2006 he’s been director of NABA School of Design (Milan) and director of NABA Interior Design master (2010-2011).
Between 2001 and 2004 he has been scientific director of Triennale di Milano architecture and town planning sections.

Matteo Fantoni

Matteo Fantoni opened his studio in Milan in 2007 after working as partner for Foster and Partners (1991–2007). Since opening his headquarter in Milan, Matteo Fantoni Studio has undertaken various projects around the world from Master Planning, Architecture, Interior and Product Design. Flexibility, Economic and Environmental Sustainability as well as High Design Integrity are a daily commitment for Matteo and his Team towards the creation of aesthetically beautiful design solutions for a modern living with architectural projects enhance with strong social wellness.

Benedetta Tagliabue

Benedetta Tagliabue

Benedetta Tagliabue studied architecture at the Istituto di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV) and currently acts as director of the international architecture firm Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, founded in Barcelona in collaboration with Enric Miralles in 1994 and opened its office in Shanghai since 2010. She is also the director of the Enric Miralles Foundation, founded in 2011, whose goal is to promote experimental architecture in the spirit of her late husband and partner Enric Miralles.
