242,152 VISITORS, +21% AT MADE EXPO 2010
The third edition of MADE expo closes on an enthusiastic high note with 242,152 visitors, an increase of 21%, of whom 23,810 were foreigners (+24%).

This international event dedicated to the world of planning and building, held from 3 to 6 February at the Milan-Rho trade fair complex, confirms its role as leader in the sector, a must-visit business appointment on the trade fair calendar and at the same time a chance for collation by operators and relaunch by the sector, a showcase for qualified goods with a high innovation content.

"We are completely satisfied by the result achieved",state the organisers, "not only in terms of figures, but also and above all for the positive mood felt in the halls during the event. Over 1,700 companies took part, 254 of them from abroad, in more than 90,000 net m² of exhibition space, showing great tenacity and a desire to react to this difficult economic period. MADE expo once again proved to be an effective tool for companies, which found important business opportunities, services and in-depth analysis at the show. There was unanimous positive feedback from visitors regarding the high innovation and research content presented both on stands and in the cultural and technical initiatives".

Over 180 meetings and events were on the agenda
during the four days, highlighting the most relevant issues for contemporary building.

"Thanks to an innovative format that combines services and products with technology and culture”,
continue the organisers, MADE expo does not stop when the fair closes but heads towards the fourth edition, scheduled from 5 to 8 October 2011. During this period, MADE expo will continue to work, through international appointments and initiatives that will mark the months leading up to the next show. The priority for MADE expo is to support companies along the road leading to the great challenge that is EXPO 2015, which has chosen this trade fair as a benchmark for the construction system, a sector playing a lead role in development of the planet from a new perspective of sustainability for the environment and man".

MADE EXPO, VISITORS UP BY 9% ON THE FIRST DAY
The third edition of MADE expo starts in top gear and at the end of the first day, yesterday 3 February, posted a 9% increase in visitors compared to the first day of the 2009 edition

A confident mood was sensed in the corridors together with enthusiasm among operators, above all for the many new ideas in terms of innovation and research showcased on the 1,700 stands in 90,000 m² of exhibition space.

Worries about the still difficult economic situation have obviously not totally disappeared, but at the same time positive feedback on the first day, which saw the presence of specialised operators interested in products from the entire MADE expo supply chain, helps to confirm this Milan trade fair as an authoritative international benchmark.

This design and architecture fair
, which closes at Fiera Milano Rho on Saturday 6 February, will also host important delegations of planners, architects and distributors from Russia, Turkey, Poland, Ukraine, Albania, Algeria, Lebanon, Romania, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Byelorussia, Gabon, Angola, the Slovak Republic, Bulgaria and Brazil. Big building companies from this last country have in fact come to Milan for the first time in search of new ideas in construction technologies and materials.

BIG INAUGURATION FOR MADE EXPO 2010
Initiatives and conferences for the building world will continue until saturday

Today saw the opening of MADE expo 2010, the third edition of the show dedicated to the world of building and planning, which will run until Saturday 6 February.

The opening conference “The world tomorrow and Expo 2015. Signs of global economic recovery and the challenge of sustainable growth in cities”, attended by over 1000 qualified operators and professionals in the sector, was held in the Auditorium at Fiera Milano Rho and highlighted the central role of the building sector for generation of possible new models for sustainable development. A challenge and a great responsibility, explored in detail by Jeremy Rifkin, Carlo Petrini, Stefano Boeri and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, who gave important talks that all addressed the change needed for the world's economic, political and industrial system to guarantee a tomorrow that is both possible and liveable. A future designed around man and the environment that is the result of the conception of construction as a tool to make the world more beautiful, of a new vision of energy savings and new widespread production of energy, thanks to the introduction of buildings with built-in photovoltaics: elements that converge in a new way of communicating. Not just ideas at the conference, but also the need to give shape to new solutions, combining ideas with a capacity to act and invest.

MADE expo, cradle of building market excellences, has promoted this event to reiterate the importance of companies in this sector for global economic development, capable of meeting the challenge of eco-sustainability. Synergy with the institutions also holds great importance. The president of the Lombardy Region, Roberto Formigoni, was also present at the conference and in his speech he underlined how, right now, we need to show entrepreneurial courage to meet these changes, using innovation, creativity and sustainability as leverage.

There are still plenty of appointments on the agenda at MADE expo, which runs until Saturday 6 February. The many initiatives scheduled include the Project Scholarship, tomorrow Thursday 4 February, a brand new entry at MADE expo as part of the Building Technology Forum, with research projects by the main Italian universities presented for the first time directly to companies. At 10 o’clock meanwhile there will be the appointment with “Hamlets and Historical Centres” and the conference “HAMLETS: the new Made in Italy”, focussed on activities promoting Hamlets abroad as the new “standard bearer” for Made in Italy. Vittorio Sgarbi will be taking part in this event.

THE 3RD EDITION OF MADE EXPO HAS BEEN PRESENTED IN MILAN: BIG NEWS FOR 2010
The 3rd edition of MADE expo has been presented in Milan; the Exhibition will take place from 3 – 6 February 2010 and the main themes will be "Planning and Structural Engineering".

During the meeting many news and initiatives have been presented by Andrea Negri (President of Made Eventi srl ), Giulio Cesare Alberghini (MD of Made Eventi srl), Libero Ravioli (President of UNCSAAL) and by Rosario Messina (President of FederlegnoArredo).

A high number of journalists and industry operators took part in the presentation meeting which confirms MADE expo’s leading role on the international scene as the only European meeting for the building sector in 2010. MADE expo represents the special meeting point for the planning, innovation, technological development and sustainability.

It is being a huge preparation work by the MADE expo organization which is investing enormously, despite the difficult economic situation, in order to beef up the Exhibition  by proposing brand new events and initiatives.A recognition has also been received by Federcostruzioni, the Italian Federation which represents the common interests of all construction companies and which will play an active role during the event.

Promoting innovation and technological development, caring for the world of projects and a constant nearness to the companies, as needed for the development of their businesses: these are the main strengths of the next MADE expo edition.

To give an answer to the Exhibitors’ requests about finding a new positioning within the European Exhibition Calendar, so that the international core can be further reinforced, MADE expo announces the new dates for 2011:  5 – 8 October

In order to make participation in the Exhibition easier, MADE expo signed an agreement with ALITALIA airline offering special rates for the MADE expo visitors from both national and international airports served directly by the carrier.Agreements have also been signed with several hotels and 136 restaurants in Milan and its hinterland.

The heart of the 2010 edition will be the Forum on Structural Engineering,  a meeting place with several initiatives and conferences about the strategic role played by Structural Engineering in the areas of building and construction. The Forum is realized in collaboration with a scientific committee made up of 20 experts and will represent an important step-up for the whole Exhibition which focuses on innovation and on the ultimate technical solutions.

There is also two interesting news relating to the city and the urban theme. The first one is Civitas, a virtual city dedicated to the building envelope, a project made by UNCSAAL to illustrate the  most innovative technological solutions for the building envelope. This show is especially addressed to a qualified visitor target such as Architects, Engineers and Project Managers. A conceptual city, a large space with 5 large thematic streets, with products and projects that are inserted into a theatrical background. In the middle of this space there will be a multimedia square which will be interactive  and integrated with a virtual reality system

Borghi e Centri Storici is another initiative by MADE expo in collaboration with the company BORGHI Srl and is dedicated to the redevelopment and the improvement  of the over 5000 Italian hamlets and historic centers, thanks to the high technical knowledge on restoration, planning, bio-architecture and new energy sources.  Through this brand new idea, MADE expo shows one more time its ability for innovation concerning the exhibition itself and its desire to enhance the value of history and the treasures of the Italian urban heritage at the same time, by opening up new opportunities for a vast array of companies.

At the 2010 edition the Décor & Color Show will also be introduced as a meeting point for color and new solutions for paints, enamels and decorative finishes.Additionally Europolis will also be featured as the special area dedicated to swimming pools, sport facilities, fitness and urban furnishing, introducing innovations with particular attention to the environment and the energy conservation.

IstantHouse will also be back in 2010 as the contest addressed to students and graduates from both Italian and foreign Architecture, Engineering and Industrial Design Universities and will be sponsored by FederlegnoArredo Srl in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano; the main object of this second edition is “Temporary housing_SOUNDSCAPES” and will represent a challenge for all young designers who will have to consider the housing project in connection with the pollution problem, with particular attention to the acoustic one which represents a hazard to the quality of the house and also to human health.

It is also the third edition for the exhibition “Laboratorio di Architettura” (the Architecture Workshop) sponsored by the magazine OF ARCH; the  topic of the year is “Project Culture and Business”; the workshop is a special moment where the academic world and the building companies can meet and discuss; it is a crossroad created to find new opportunities of collaboration.

MADE expo 2010 has already put in place a very intensive national and international promotional campaign with the inclusion of 15 roadshows around the world hitting Algeria, Bulgaria, France, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, UAE and Ukraine; in addition to the above an important schedule of TV and Radio commercials as well as over 300 advertisements in more than 155 trade magazines have been implemented.

Some cultural events being part of the MADE expo exhibition are the conferences in Milan and Paris organized in collaboration with Arch. Stefano Boeri, member of the Expo 2015 steering committee, and the MADE expo presentation in Moscow including the new project “Globe town” introduced by Dante Benini and concerning a new urban settlement into the historic area of the megalopolis Nizhniy Novgorod with particular attention to eco-sustainability, innovation and efficiency.

Other events and initiatives are being considered in order to confirm MADE expo as the meeting place for discussion and opinion exchange as well as the must-attend event for the whole building and construction industry.

MADE EXPO MAIN MEDIA SPONSOR OF THE 54TH NATIONAL ENGINEERS' CONGRESS
MADE expo's ongoing commitment to fostering development and innovation

MADE expo will be the main media sponsor of the 54th National Engineers’ Congress, to be held on 22, 23 and 24 July 2009 at Pescara’s Montesilvano Congress Centre with more than 1,000 Engineers expected to attend from all over Italy to debate and discuss the Safety and Development themes with the main focus on the central role of Engineers.

MADE expo, the only Congress sponsoring Trade Show
, sees the 54th National Engineers’ Congress as an initiative of crucial importance for preparing for the third edition of the event which will take place on 3-6 February 2010 at Fiera Milano, Rho (Italy).

The three-day event in Pescara – during which the chairman of MADE eventi, Mr. Andrea Negri, will address participants  – provides us with an opportunity to consolidate our ongoing contacts with all those involved in the design and planning while gathering additional information on the needs of the engineering sector and, at the same time, providing attendees with information on the planned initiatives for MADE expo 2010.

A major feature of MADE expo 2010 will be the CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES FORUM

200.126 VISITORS ATTENDED THE 2nd EDITION OF MADEexpo, UP 17,1 % ON THE 1st EDITION
FOREIGN VISITORS INCREASED BY 19,8%

With a 17,1 % increase in the attendance the 2nd edition of MADEexpo marked a success that goes well beyond the rosiest expectations.

The final figures at the end of the 4th Show day were 200.126 visitors
of which 19.202 were foreign (foreign visitors were up 19,8% on 2008) from 118 countries.

The Exhibition organized by MADE eventi Srl and promoted by Federlegno-Arredo and Uncsaal marks an overall increase which is not only a positive result for the Architecture and Building Show itself but also represents a significant confidence in the whole industry.

"Satisfaction for the results -
the Organizers say - is further underlined by the enthusiasm as well as the positive climate that prevailed over all four days inside the 1739 stands occupying more than 100.000 sq.m. of net exhibit space. We wish to thank each and every Exhibitor for trusting the MADEexpo project in Milan and for investing in promoting the event, in putting together great exhibits as well as showcasing the latest and most innovative products for the future of the building industry”.

Exhibitors underlined the visitors’ quality pointing out the huge presence of qualified industry professionals such as planners, builders and renovators, contractors and door and window manufacturers.
Satisfaction was also expressed by the Exhibitors of Europolis, the Exhibition for Swimming Pools, Sport Facilities and Urban Furnishings and this is seen as the best projection towards  an even more successful 2010 edition.

Sustainability, energy saving and safety are among the key words that  characterized the Exhibition which was  further enhanced by nearly 100 highly attended conferences and meetings
such as Cityfutures jointly organized by MADEexpo and SitDa. MADEexpo was also highlighted by a number of cultural events like Toy Building N.1 by Italo Rota dedicated to the Futurism Movement and set up at the Piazzetta Reale and the Instanthouse Show where the works by students who participated in the contest for the planning of the Expo 2015 temporary cellular compartments were displayed.
The success of  MADEexpo confirms, once again, the central role of the Lombardy  Region’s main City as the focal location for the building industry and the Architecture and paves the way to the big Expo 2015 appointment.

The outcome of this edition strengthens our position in the calendar of the International Building events - the Organizers say - and is a further stimulation to start  working right away on the next edition scheduled for February 2010 for which a stronger promotion towards the most strategic foreign markets for all sections of our Show will be implemented”.

It is worth noting that the number of journalists was up 14,8% on the 1st edition with a total of 1309
. “This is a very significant result, the Organizers underline, not just for the number but also for the quality of the coverage in all trade and consumer media including daily newspapers and TV”.

CITYFUTURES - Ideas, Architecture, Design and Technologies for City Futures
Auditorium - Milano Convention Centre MADE expo, Milano 4-5 february 2009

One of the few certainties we have today is that ‘cities’ will still be here in 2050. However, not much can be said about what they will look like, what kind of life they will foster, how people will move within them, think, grow, study, work, have fun, suffer and die.
What sort of architecture, design and technology tools will be used?

We need ideas, vision, architecture, design, conceptual tools, and technologies for the future of cities.
This is the debate that MADE Expo has started with a selected group of experts and scientists from all over the World to explore the “vision” and the tools for the transition from the city today to the city in the year 2050 and beyond.

The results of this debate, made possible with the assistance of the Italian Association of Architectural Technology (SITdA), will be presented in Milan at the MADE Expo 2009 during an international conference called Cityfutures.

MADE EXPO: A REALLY EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS
Expectations for the event's first edition have been met and indeed exceeded

170,779, of which 154,754 Italian and 16,025 foreign visitors, is the number of the amount of visitors throughout the five days of the first edition of MADE expo, the innovative international trade fair dedicated to architecture and construction which ended on Saturday, 9th of February in Milan.

The most important representatives from the construction and building industry exhibited at MADE expo showing a global perspective of the industry, from project planning to construction, services and technological solutions, via materials and finishes, while maintaining the specific features of each individual segment, and was an immediate success on the construction market, comprising designers and industry specialists.

The success of MADE expo is first and foremost due to the 1,914 exhibitors, who accepted with enthusiasm the challenge of this first edition, which is completely different from any previous event dedicated to construction and which has been situated in a new and innovative location equipped with extraordinary facilities and very well linked with the European market", states Giulio Cesare Alberghini, managing director of MADE eventi. “The 1,625 Italian companies present at the exhibition had the opportunity to introduce themselves to an international market, and therefore presenting the very best of the Italian construction industry”.

Milan, the stage of architectural renovation and leading player in the global economy, contributed in making this event an international showcase and a point of reference not only for the construction industry, but also for the design planning and architectural world”, adds Andrea Negri, chairman of MADE eventi.

“The organisational efforts”, underlines enthusiastically Libero Ravaioli, chairman of Uncsaal, the promoting association alongside Federlegno-Arredo of MADE expo, “were rewarded by the stream of top quality specialists, architects and designers as well as industry specialists, who appreciated the range of goods on offer and the exhibition layout, but most of all who recognised in Milan and in the Rho exhibition district the role of catalyst of excellence.”

Another success was the exhibition “Skin – Architectural surfaces”, which took place concurrently with the trade fair, and the conferences, meetings and encounters for detailed analysis were also of great interest and saw large attendance figures, turning MADE expo into a reference event for architecture and construction as well as a cultural event and an ideal forum for the discussion on the role of architecture and on the technical solutions for the application of the different construction systems.

“This first exhibition event” concludes Roberto Snaidero, chairman of Federlegno-Arredo, “passed the test with flying colours and has been beyond our brightest expectations. Some interesting development prospects are therefore opening up for future editions of MADE expo, forcing us to think of consolidation strategies and further international developments for the event scheduled for 2009 straight away. Federlegno-Arredo thus reinforces, thanks to MADE expo, the internationalisation strategy for other associations such as Edilegno, Assolegno and Assopannelli, completing the Federation's commitment to the entire industry chain.”
